Fine gold but plenty of gem zircons, great swimming hole and toilet facilities in the parking lot. Lovely place to have a picnic, camp or enjoy a day trip with the kids. Spend some time in Uralla too and head to the information centre while you are there.
Great free camp. Has sandy beach on river. Is a good fossicking area
Nice place for camping or a bit of a swim. Just be careful of the native wildlife, saw dozens of skinks, a water dragon and a red bellied black snake while we were there (about 45 minute visit).In regards to it's capacity for fossicking, you'll struggle to find much as most of the "gold" here is pyrite, it's also what you see sparkling in the water. There may be some traces of gold as there is quartz found here. Looks like most decent looking jelly beans are already gone also if that's your thing.
Bloody brilliant spot for camping. However needs some more level spots for "bigger" vans. Kids enjoyed fossicking and seeing some wildlife.
Great place stopped overnight. Have a fold out soft floor camper was hard to find a level spot as most were already taken by the bigger vans. Had a very pleasant nights rest.
